Project Overview
A sensitive kitchen renewal pairing refinished cabinetry with a new cherry island and range-hood featureThe Baldoon kitchen demonstrates how thoughtful custom work can transform an existing room without discarding what still serves it well. The original painted cabinetry was carefully renewed, with the existing doors and trim sanded and refinished to restore a crisp, consistent appearance. New work was then introduced through a custom cherry island and coordinating range-hood valance, bringing warmth and definition to the centre of the room.
The new cherry doors use a five-piece Shaker construction with a flat panel and chamfered outside edge, finished in a custom stain selected to complement the existing kitchen. The island combines a cherry veneer-core exterior with a durable white melamine interior, three smooth soft-close drawers and restrained chrome pulls. Blanco Pure quartz provides a bright, durable work surface, while the dark cherry hood detail gives the cooking wall a strong visual anchor. The result feels refreshed and cohesive rather than replaced wholesale.
Project Specifications
Scope: Refinishing of existing doors and trim, plus a new custom island and range-hood valance.
Door style: Five-piece, 13/16" cherry Shaker doors with 2 1/4" rails and stiles, 1/4" flat panels and a chamfered outside edge.
